Scared of you

When people ask what my greatest fear is,
I answer with something stereotypical;
Like spiders or snakes.
But, in reality, l’m scared of you.
You and your expectations.
I haven’t been myself in years,
Because I have to be what you want of me.
I’m scared of what you would think of the real me.
I’m scared of constantly lying to others to keep up your facade.
I’m scared of what’ll happen after you read my poem.
I’m scared of what that conversation will entail.
Well, I say conversation,
But it will mostly consists of your shouts and malicious silence,
Whenever I try to explain myself.
I’m scared of the person I am now.
The person you have shapen.
I’m scared of the person I am underneath,
The person I barely know anymore.
I do know one thing about them.
They are scared;
Scared of you...
